A Child’s Dream uplifts community voices to lead healing-centered solutions that address trauma, substance use, and systemic inequities. Guided by Four Pillars, we provide peer support, resource connection, and safe spaces rooted in dignity, tradition, and lived experience.
Our goal is to have no more child removals due to preventable, solvable, and healable hardships.
River’s Dream
For a long time, River woke from the same troubling dreams, quietly carrying fears no child should have to hold alone. One day, he looked at his mother and asked, “Mommy, do you have bad dreams too?”
She told him, “Yes”. As a self-identified Diné (Navajo) Apache warrior, mother, and lived expert, Tina Rios understood those dreams as more than fear. She saw them as spiritual warning and ancestral memory; they were a call toward healing.
When River shared that he dreamed “bad people were coming”, she met his honesty with her own, telling him she had those dreams too. Then he asked a different question: “Do you ever have good dreams?”
She answered, “Yes. And you will too.”
From that moment, the vision for A Child's Dream, Altadena began to take shape: a community rooted in protection, cultural wisdom, healing, and the belief that Native and Indigenous children deserve not only safety from harm, but the freedom to dream beautiful futures into being.
Meet the Founder
Tina Rios is an Indigenous mother, leader at Reimagine Child Safety Coalition, and lives in her purpose as an activist liberating children from family policing systems. She is a Los Angeles County Lived Expert & Community Consultant, California Domestic Violence Counselor/Peer Support Specialist, Founder at A Child’s Dream, Altadena Incorporated.
Tina leads with heart and believes in miracles.
